3 Things to Bring on an Exotic Animal Hunting Trip

April 25, 2024

One of the best ways to experience a new and thrilling type of hunt is to stay at an exotic animal hunting lodge and attend guided hunts. The lodge provides food, housing, and entertainment for everyone on your trip, but what else should be brought? Here are three things you should bring on an exotic animal hunting trip.

1. Your Firearms and Ammunition

You will need your favorite hunting rifle and potentially a backup in case something happens to your primary. According to Gitnux, more than 28% of U.S. households contain at least one firearm intended for hunting. Additionally, packing any cleaning equipment or additional accessories will allow you to enjoy your stay more thoroughly. Finally, bring your preferred ammo for the type of hunt you're attending, and a cooler to keep any meat fresh.

2. Proper Clothing and Boots for the Hunt

You’ll need to bring clothing that is appropriate for the weather and the type of hunt that you will undertake while at an exotic animal hunting lodge. Rain gear is great to have if you experience wet weather, and cold weather gear is important for those chilly nights. A good pair of boots is essential, as is a hat and a pair of gloves. Wearing at least one piece of hunter-orange clothing is required by law, and camouflage is recommended to better disguise yourself. Pay attention to the forecast and look to weather conditions from previous years to help decide exactly what you need for your excursion.

3. Identification, Medical Records, and Current Medication

You’ll need your state-issued ID or a passport, and possibly both if your trip takes you to another country when you go on an exotic game hunt. It helps to bring your medical records which, hopefully, won’t be needed, but will greatly help if there is an emergency. There are many potential dangers while on any hunting trip, including accidental shootings, falls, and heart attacks, that can lead to a trip to the emergency room. Medical records and medication help ensure you get the right healthcare if needed.
